More than 15,000 postal workers use the system
Only 2 administrators
2,000 management sessions per hour
< 5 errors per day
Increased productivity
Boosted employee morale
The Danish Post (The Danish Postal provider) has implemented a Mobile Device Management System that enables them to know where their 15,000 postmen are, what time the post boxes have been emptied, to scan parcels and to carry out credit card payments.
The national postal service wanted to change from using traditional scanners on the daily routes to becoming a modern service-oriented organisation using mobile solutions to optimise working processes.
15,000 postal workers in Denmark are today being equipped with a smartphone, offering the staff dynamic route planning, more control to emptying mailboxes and improved payment procedures for the customers.
A postal worker having to collect mail from a designated route at a specific time every day can now see his daily route, register pick-ups and check mails at the same time - without having to check-in at the Post Office.
The solution was delivered by Milcom and Sybase.
Apart from increased productivity and customer service, the postal service gains significant business benefits from the project. The cost-reduction of moving away from the previous barcode system to handheld mobile solutions is at least five fold.
The North Denmark Region has one of the largest mobile solutions in the country. More than 1,500 doctors and administrative employees have been given a PDA that helps them in everyday life. All PDAs are administered centrally by Afaria.
